Pickering Mayors Gala 2011

Well everyone on Saturday, I had the extreme pleasure of attending the Mayor’s Gala in Pickering with our Regional Councillor Peter Rodrigues.  It was a fabulous affair at the Pickering Rec Centre.

As many of you are aware, this was Pickering’s BiCentennial Year.  All of the funds raised for this year’s Gala went directly back to the community to support those in need. For example, Epilepsy Durham Region is committed to promoting independence and optimal quality of life for individuals living with epilepsy; the Children’s Wish Foundation provides a once in a lifetime experience for children diagnosed with life threatening illnesses; and FOOTPRINTS provides respite services for families with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Finally, the Rouge Valley Ajax-Pickering Hospital will receive the remaining funds which will go towards the Image is Everything MRI campaign.

Pictures of the event are hosted on http://www.hadaball.com/ …. Definitely a night to remember.   Durham Region is a great place to live and raise your families.

Thanks Peter for the invitation and to all our Durham Council for their efforts and hard work to keep our Region one of the best there is to live in !!
